Refreshed with a good night's sleep, we visited Elliot, along with many others in the Healthsouth facility.  Elliot's English is not any better than our Spanish so communication is limited.  We took off our legs and let him see how they are constructed and how the Pathfinder foot affords us effort-free movement.  Sleeves, liners, everything went.  Despite our language difficulties, his interest in our legs and how we are able to walk had a great impact on him.  Our special thanks to Roscoe who agreed to see us and made a promise to return to therapy for strength exercises.  We are fortunate to have met him as well as all of the others that we met with and visited.

John continues to rack up mileage.  While filming for a camera crew, John pedaled the length of Narrow Lane and into the next county.  "Hey miles are miles, no matter where you get them." 

But Joe is not having it.  "If the miles don't get us closer to Virginia then they don't count."

"John slowly counts to ten using his hand and his foot.  Okay boss but you are going to have to convince Animal."

Using his consummate skills of diplomacy, Animal confronts Joe.  '"When it comes to miles, you don't have a leg to stand on.  How many miles did we make trying to find our way back from being lost.  I seem to recall one long night in Dallas that we spent getting back to the hotel by way of a direct route from Florida to Fort Worth."

Slowly, ever so slowly, with a sly, cunning smile, Joe sidles over to Animal.   A quick lunge, and Animal and Joe are locked in well, uh... conversation.

"Uncle. Uncle!" Cries Animal. 

Joe triumphantly raised his two fingers in making the "V for Victory sign."

Animal strikes again. 

And now you know the rest of the story. 

The saga with Animal will continue on Monday, as we travel to Birmingham for our visitation at the Healthsouth Lakeshore Rehabilitation Hospital.
