As they say with Capital One, "On to the Neighbors!"  Our visitation with Healthsouth Scottsdale.

We departed  from Glendale and the Healthsouth Valley of the Sun in the early hours of the morning and even at 8:00 AM, the temperature was already passing the 91 degree mark. 

Arriving at a rendezvous point enroute, Ruben and Karen escorted us into the Healthsouth Scottsdale facility.  American flags, balloons, administration and staff were out to greet us despite the hot sun.

A wonderful group of people assembled to welcome us to Scotsdale.

Vendors and prosthetists were also in attendance.  Following a superb barbecue of ribs and chicken, we were honored to meet two amputees of note.  Jack Welch and Fred Defreitas were as much of an inspiration to us as we hope we were to them.   Jack, with the Purple Heart has overcome more adversity than any of us have experienced and we felt honored to shake his hand.  Jack is one of those buoyant guys that will never let anything get him down.  It was great meeting the two of you. 

We enjoyed the live country and western entertainment...

We got to meet new friends...

And renew acquaintances with some old ones.

It appears that Jerry is making a remarkable recovery. 

Even John's Bruce Willis imitation went over big.

A local fund raiser is being presented to members of Amputees Across America.  The generosity of all of the Healthsouth facilities we have visited makes us feel wonderful.

Our thanks to Richard and Karen for all that they have done for us and for all of the amputees in their local community.  Their warmth and dedication to patient care is evident in everything that they do.  We wish Healthsouth Scottsdale the very best and thank you all for your wonderful and generous support.
