Bob Arbogast
Today we dedicated our ride to Mr. Arbogast, the President and CEO of Ohio Willow Wood in recognition of his untiring efforts to improve the lives of amputees across the nation and around the world. It was in his name that we rode today and surpassed our daily distance record.
With each daily ride we intend to honor the members of each department in OWW as our tribute to their efforts to produce the products which allow us to live active lives. Through our small effort, we want to thank each and every one of you for your great efforts, your loyalty and your dedication.

We began our day in Fairfield Idaho with clear skies and warm winds. The boys were ready to ride. Here the boys gear up and say their daily prayer of "downhill runs and wind at our backs". The prayer is usually not effective.
We rode through some spectacular high desert country with sagebrush and warm temperatures. The landscape was dotted with ranches and horses and cattle stared in awe as we rode past.

Although this is considered high desert country, the amount of water produced by springs and mountain run-offs assured swift flowing rivers throughout the countryside.

Pictured here is some of the scenery the boys encountered on their ride. Rolling mountains, blue skies and sagebrush were evident all through our trip today.

Here the boys start off once again on that high and lonesome desert highway after a brief respite in Picabo, Idaho. Here we met a charming woman by the name of Liz Smith, a Recreational Therapist who wished us a speedy and safe journey.

Just more of the free flowing rivers we encountered on today's ride. The scenery never ceases to amaze us all.

Here Trish poses during one of our stops at the Craters of the Moon park near Arco. After riding all day in the desert heat the boys felt as if they were indeed on the moon. The park features an amazing display of black terrain formed by lava flows from volcanos many years ago.

After entering the Crater of the Moons park, the boys pose with Susan Brown-Morris, a park ranger for the park. She was a most generous and gracious hostess and we highly recommend a visit to the unique park.

Due to the severe heat, the boys lost their way temporarily and sat on a lava bed to contemplate further action. A quick check of the GPS revealed they were somewhere in Idaho. Hopping on their bikes, they rode the final 18 miles to Arco for rest and hydration. All totaled, the boys rode about 180 miles today. It was another good day.
Tomorrow we rise early and ride to Pocatello Idaho for a local visitation with amputees with a local prosthetics firm and a Veterans Hospital.
