Another day and more miles. We rode out of Birmingham towards Montgomery.

Here Joe saddles up to ride with the boys. The heat hovered around 100 as did the humidity. But despite it all Joe smiles before his ride. Or perhaps he is grimacing at the thought of listening to the incessant banter he knows will ensure between Bruce and Jim. For some reason, Bruce and Jim position themselves squarely between Joe while they ride so that he will be able to soak in every thought provoking comment. This pleases Joe immensely.

The boys with Joe as they ride the divided road. Note that Joe is already hanging his head in an effort to block the barrage of comments from the magpies.

Joe sprints down the highway in an effort to elude the boys.
The boys
after cresting a hill. The beauty of hill climbing is the knowledge that a
downhill awaits.

More action packed pics of the boys riding. The heat was really intense which fostered heat related mirages of giant root beer floats looming ahead.

Even more action packed shots of the boys riding. Jim asks Bruce if it is hot enough to try nude cycling.

One of the real pleasures of the trip is meeting other amputees along the route. Here Brian Hastings, with his daughter Katie, stop us along the road to wish us well. The encouragement and smiles from well wishers such as Brian have really made this trip so worthwhile.
Tomorrow we will attend a visitation at the HealthSouth facility in Montgomery.
