Today was a down day in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Down in that we were not on the road riding our bikes. It was very much an "up" day as the weather in Steamboat Springs was excellent. The mountain scenery was as beautiful as ever.

We spent the morning visiting the Sore Saddle bicycle shop. Joe's red bike (old red), needed some repairs and Sore Saddle was the place to go. Pictured at left is the Sore Saddle shop with its unusually shaped dome. There were rows and rows of bikes and accessories. Mark was drooling and of course spent some of his hard earned coins on highly necessary bike stuff like a truing stand (hey we need every technical advantage we can get). Bruce, of course, abstained from any accessorizing on his "classic" in an effort to retain the resale value on his two wheeled dinosaur. Truthfully they stopped making parts for his bike

here is the AAA trailer parked near the Sore Saddle shop and the adjacent park.
The Yampa river runs right behind the shop and there is a fine paved bike trail
running along the river for miles.

Here the boys attempt to "borrow" a tire from the shop but the ever vigilant canine hired for security reasons quickly thwarted the unauthorized "loan". Mark attempts to bribe the beast with power drinks and goo (some sort of power drink). But the faithful canine refused to release his grip.

The folks at the Sore Saddle were great to us. We are pictured with Ed, the original owner, outside the shop. Thanks again to all the staff at Sore Saddle for helping us out. If you are in Steamboat Springs, check them out. It's work the trip.

Here Cheryl peruses the many bikes on display at the Sore Saddle. After much deliberation, Cheryl found the bike of her dreams and proudly rode away from the shop with a brand new Trek. It was quite a day for Cheryl who will now proudly ride her two wheeler with the boys on all future rides across the country.

Here Cheryl makes her final pick for a bike with Keith looking on. Hey Jeanne. Today Keith did not outride us. Of course we didn't ride at all today. But hey that's just a technicality.

Another view of the Sore Saddle. Hey we spent a lot of time there.

Keith and Mark at the river's edge near the Sore Saddle. A bike path runs along the river for about 5 miles and Keith, Mark and Cheryl took a spin along it's path. Cheryl earned her first road rash with a minor spill on the trail. Fortunately the bike was not injured. Oh yeah, Cheryl is ok too.
Tomorrow we are off to Georgetown, Colorado. Stay tuned for more action packed adventures of the AAA boys. Good night folks.
