Shriners Hospital Chicago

Ahh!
Another visitation day. This time we are visiting the Shriners Hospital in
the Chicago area. The skies are overcast, the humidity is up, the
temperature down, rain fell last night, and we are ready and raring to go!
After touring the northwest side of Chicago and locating the airport (which was
nowhere near where we were headed) we found the hospital and rode into the
parking lot.

Once again, we are greeted with warmth and hospitality by Shriners and hospital staff. Considering the way we look in our pretty shirts, it is no wonder they want to check our I.D. at the door. Once we won them over with our wit and charm, they eagerly invited us in.
In
the lobby, the riders interacted with some of the older children who are
involved in a work transition program that allows the children to become
familiar with work settings and some of the challenges they may face.
Based on their attitudes, their aspirations, and positive spirits, the four we
met today will have many opportunities to leave their marks upon the world.
What an inspiration!
Jim
in action! He does an excellent impression (?) of a child as he shmoozes
some Shriners. Poor Saint Trish. How does she do it?
Richard
has gotten his van fixed and has rejoined the group. I am sure he is
trying to trade for one of those hats.

Meeting the children, signing posters, visiting with the staff, and just hanging out and having a good time at the visitations is one of the highlights of this trip.
