The morning started on a sad note as our new friend Denise departed this wonderful group, bound for home.  Richard drove her to the airport early in the morning.  We will all miss having her along for the rest of the trip, but not nearly as much as Richard.  They make such a wonderful, fun couple.  Good luck Denise and we hope to hear from you as we proceed on this adventure.  Besides, we need you to keep Richard in line, even if it is from a distance.

The first order of business for the group on this beautiful morning was a scheduled visitation at the Shriner's Hospital in Salt Lake City.  It is a beautiful city and we got to see much of it as we traveled along Joe's circuitous route.  Somewhere in this town these two roads do actually intersect . . .oh, there it is.

Okay, now this may need some explaining.  As I said above, Denise left early this morning and already Richard is having trouble dressing himself.  With a little help from Chris and a bungee strap through the hole where the zipper tongue used to be, we were able to make him barely presentable.

Waiting again.  What time was this event supposed to happen?  Was that Eastern, Central, or Mountain time?

Chris just couldn't help himself.  The waiting was getting to him and he went over the edge.  Joe was able to catch him and wrestle him to the ground and called upon James for assistance to administer a pink-belly as a way to calm him down and help him prepare for his departure tomorrow.

After becoming subdued, Chris was paroled into the custody of Richard.  Or was it Richard was paroled into Chris's custody?  However it was supposed to be, they were able to take care of each other.

The group visited with a very brave little girl named Tatum.  She has been through a lot in her young life and still has the ability to smile.  She is truly an inspiration to this group.  Tomorrow's skydive by Joe will be in her honor.

James is attempting to communicate with Tatum on her level.  Everybody hoped he could reach up to that level.

The visitations sometimes seem like a whole lot of confusion as the group mills around, setting out information and preparing to sign posters.

Renee' and James made some new friends.

A friend of Kip's in Atlanta had contacted a local motorcycle club about the group's visitation today.  A couple of couples arrived to surprise Kip and share stories of the road.

We salute and thank all of the veterans of the American military.  Both of the ladies are nurses in the local area and each one of us in the group also have great respect and thanks for the jobs they do and the comfort they give to the people in their care.

Richard and Denise met Judy at a filling station on their way to San Francisco.  Of course Richard could not let the opportunity pass to talk with someone and share his belief in the purpose of this trip.  She and her daughter met us at this visitation.  She has just recently joined this club of one-leggers and she is doing very well.

Once again Joe was pointing in the wrong direction as he gave directions.  Kip and Linda have learned to go the opposite direction and after continuing in the direction they were headed, were soon able to find the exit on their own.

After the visitation at HealthSouth the previous day, they admitted a patient that had recently had an amputation.

The group visited with Robert, who is 71 years-old, and his lovely wife.  He has a very positive attitude and was able to share his positive outlook on life and the events that occur in all of our lives.

Richard, not having swam in a couple of years, prepares to show the younger boys how to fall into the pool by making monstrous waves with a belly-flop.

As a demonstration of their positive attitudes, these three clowns demonstrate the Can-Can.  Is the Moulin Rouge ready for them?

Once again, Richard's bike, the "Yellow Submarine", was down for repairs.  He was able to locate a local bike shop to get him back on the road.

Allen, the Master Mechanic at the shop was proud of the privilege of having been able to work on the Yellow Submarine.  Does anyone know of any repair shops on the rest of our route in case Richard does his magic again?

Keith will be leaving us tomorrow before he has to ride the hill known as Keith's Hill.  However, he still has time to consider what a beautiful flower arrangement these flowers could make.  While making prosthetics is an art form, so is flower arranging.  Keith, you do such wonderful work in both areas.  We will miss the bouquets you have made for us. Merci beaucoup!
