The Great AAA Hill Challenge
Home Next Page Previous Page Photo Album

Arriving at Dinosaur, Joe suggested that we climb the same hill that the guys climbed last year. Here we see a prairie dog trying to tell us NOT to go up the hill that Joe (Marquis De Sade) says is a little over two miles. Joe apparently has a very poor conception of distance, it was a little over four miles and a continuous steep climb. Wait! On closer inspection this actually is James doing his smell-bad, ugly dog act. As it turned out, we should have listened to the prairie dog

Luke is full of confidence (among other things) about how easy the ordeal in front of us will be. None of us was prepared for Joe's little surprise.

Looks easy enough. We started going up and never stopped going up until the blessed end.

Here Luke and Kip take a much needed breather while everyone else continues on. Notice the incline. Yow!

Kip and Richard do the zig-zag routine. Still going uphill.

Even the support vehicles are having difficulty negotiating this hill.
Kip and Richard approach the summit with Linda and James exhorting them on. We all made it to the top and were proud of the accomplishment. It was an awesome feeling.
Here is Linda wondering which way is up. See that smile? She knows she doesn't have to peddle uphill any more.
The view from the top was spectacular; that is if you weren't too tired to enjoy it.
We are ready for a well deserved run back down the hill. Do I keep calling this a hill? I guess I've been around Joe too long; my perspective is out of whack.
