Departing on a cool and foggy, drizzly morning, we are headed out of Colorado toward the GREAT State of Kansas!  Our group of riders now includes our new Junior Ambassador, Joe Kalicki, from Florida and our new guest rider, Julie Suttles, from Georgia.

Julie prepares herself for her ride today but must rest up for her skydive tomorrow.  The light mist and cool breeze helps to keep us from overheating as we make our way along the eastern Colorado plains.

Sharon with paper trail after leaving the rest stop.  This store will need to reload the roll in the ladies room now.

A fast moving train joins our caravan.  The mighty Union Pacific rolls on down the line.  This sight caused Kip to break into a roaring rendition of "I've Been Workin' on the Railroad".  We were very entertained and hope that this musical spirit will not be a one-time only treat.

Flat straight roads as far as the eye can see takes us to Kansas.  The wonderfully wide shoulders we have had since starting our ride this morning, along US route 40, left us after we arrived in Kit Carson, Colorado.  They sure were nice while they lasted.

Our native Kansan, James, does his best to straighten an obviously tilted post holding the welcome sign to his beloved state.  Did the same guys who built the Tower of Pisa put up this sign?  "There's no place like home..."

Our two parolees, resident Canook, and Linda anxious to hit the road again.

Kansas is a breeding farm for grain elevators.  They are sprouting every few miles.

Here the wolf pack completes another 50-mile day on the road.  Our leader, James, keeps us together in a tight formation as our weary legs peddle out those last few miles.

Tomorrow we leave for Hays, Kansas.  We can hardly contain our enthusiasm.  This state just has that effect on us.  We are almost giddy with anticipation of the new and interesting sights in store for us around each bend in the road.
