Julie has an unexpected family reunion with her aunt, who just happened to be staying at the same hotel as our group.  It was quite a surprise for Julie.

We were met by representatives of HealthSouth when we arrived at the assembly area in front of the state capitol.

We enjoy the quiet before the storm getting ourselves ready for the ride to HealthSouth from the capitol building.

In front of the capitol building with Karen Farron and a couple of local bicycling enthusiasts.

We do interviews upon arrival for the local television news.

Leslie Cunningham introduces Mayor McClinton who gave us a warm welcome to the Capitol City of Kansas.

Riders share some thoughts with Jean Mitchell and Steve Allen, two local amputees, honored for their attitudes, as well as HealthSouth employees, members of the Topeka police force and others.

We mix and mingle with Frank, Jean,

and Steve, patients at HealthSouth.

K9 service dog demos were on-hand as part of the day's activities on the front lawn of HealthSouth,

Along with Phyllis Burdge and her dog, Justice.

Linda rides an adaptive horse from Serennata Farms School of Equestrian Arts

James gets some bushings repaired by the local Hanger office.

We meet new friends in PT (physical therapy).

Joe learns the art of wheelchair basketball and gets trounced by the Wheel Hawks.

The AAA team does no better.

Thanks to the staff of the Kansas Rehabilitation Hospital who did a magnificent job of hosting our visit and making it a pleasant and productive one.  We felt very much at home and hope to see you again in the future.
