Our day begins with a continental breakfast at the motel. We are still trying to figure out which continent was represented. Afterwards up the mountain and begin our ride with an exhilarating downhill run with speeds in excess of 40mph.

Andy enjoyed it so much that he turned around and rode back up a way and then down again twice (must have been something he ate).

After reaching the bottom of the hill(?) we took time to repair Richard's flat tire, he promptly over-inflated it, and blew it out again. "In Canada, we use only the finest air.  It must have been this inferior, Napa Valley stuff.  Cest la vie, Mon Sewer."

Finally off we go to complete our 40 mile run into Sacramento.

With traffic being virtually non-existent compared to yesterday and the people more considerate and friendly, it seemed as we would have an easy and non-eventful ride. But NO! First Chris ran over a rock that unseated him (James insists it had something to do with the chili cheese fries from the night before). Fortunately he was unhurt except for a little road rash which earned him the name "Skidmark".

A few miles from the end Kip's right pedal became loose and ended his ride for the day. Meanwhile Chris and Andy decided to play rabbit and took off in a burst of speed.  Must have been the beans.

Richard cracked his frame trying to negotiate the sidewalks of Davis.  Because he has not been nice to Joe, Richard was banished from the truck and forced to ride in the "Hen Wagon" for the last few miles of the ride.  It just goes to show you, even sitting with some yakking women, the worst day on the road is a whole lot better than the very best day at work.

The rest of the day was a dream.  Smooth road, long bicycle paths through Davis, California.  Life is good.  After finally completing our run it was time to check into our motel. Believe it or not, the rooms had actual tubs rather than the showers we have come to love at our earlier hotels.  James couldn't wait to call friends and family that Joe has finally come to his senses.  Even  Linda finally had something nice to say about him, but James and Kip believe it is a ploy to get their vote for support driver of the week. They are reserving their judgment for now.

Tomorrow is our visitation at the Shriners Childrens Orthopedic Hospital.  We can't wait. Tomorrow marks the last day that Andy May is with us.  His absence will be felt.  He has been a true gentleman of the road who helped us through our first two days.  Best wishes and Godspeed with the winds of favor on your back.
