Jim DeLong is a 54 year old left below the knee amputee. Born in Pedro, Ohio, Jim graduated from High School in Pedro and following his graduation he joined the United States army. 

While serving in Vietnam, in 1971, Jim stepped on a land mine which exploded and caused the loss of his limb. 

Retiring from active duty, Jim attended business school and after working for the state of Ohio, went in the building contracting business from which he subsequently retired. to his farm in Pedro. 

Jim is married to his boyhood sweetheart, Trish, and  is the father of three boys and granddad for six girls and 3 boys.  Jim has not let his amputation stop him from living life to its fullest and doesn't know the meaning of moderation. 

Jim was a rider on the AAA 2003 ride from Seattle to Jacksonville and Trish served as a support driver.  During the summer of 2004, Jim suffered horrific injuries when a wheel failed on his Harley and rolled over on top of him.  Jim is in the middle of making a great recovery and will be joining us as the third rider to continue to make a difference in the lives of so many.  Jim is inspirational, motivational, and Irish.  Those are three great compliments.
