We ride into Ashland on US Route 52 and headed for the assembly area for our visitation at the King's Daughter Medical Center.
We were met in the assembly area by the Vanover clan. As everyone in Kentucky seems to be related, we were surprised that the Hatfield and McCoys were not in attendance.
Joined by Jim DeLong, (finally) we ride down a hill to the King's Daughter facility where we were joined on our ride by a gaggle of DeLong grandchildren. To show their solidarity with their granddad, the children all wore mustaches and had the letter O tattooed on their chests.
Here the group tours the hospital, visiting patients in the rehab unit.
Here is the DeLong clan who fortunately have inherited the good looks of their grandmother. Joe and Bill can be seen trying to get the kids to give up their candy to the AAA candy fund.
At the same time that we welcome Jim and Trish, we bid a sad farewell to Mandi with one i. She was a trooper and displayed a remarkable maturity and ability to forge instant friendships with all those she met. Good Luck Mandi. We love you kid and will miss you.
By the way, as we have two Trish's now on the ride, both Trishes agree that one should be known as Trish and the other Trash. Which is which is yet to be determined. |
