As Superman would say.... UP...UP... UP... and AWAY!  Our superheroes begin the trek up the steep hill towards the HealthSouth facility for our visitation.  Wanting to avoid another episode like yesterday when Joe ran Bill into the bushes, he gets a head start in order to make the hill.  Joe takes a look at the steep embankment and nearly falls off his bike.  Jim barely escapes a collision by cutting sharply to the left!

"Amen".  Joe is deep in prayer asking for strength to make it up the hill.

Knowing Joe's history of putting folks in the bushes when he starts swarping his bike all over the place, Jim zooms around him just in case Joe starts weaving and bobbing his way up the hill.

Here is our gang shortly after arriving at the top of the hill.  We are begging for oxygen but we can't get anybody to give it up.  Bill asks Joe if he can borrow his wallet.  Maybe they will sell them some oxygen.  Joe sneaks Jim's wallet from his back pocket and provides 20 bucks to Bill.

$20 richer, Henry Ford (1 oxygen tank lighter) poses with the guys in his Model T wheelchair.  Henry is a recent amputee and has a great attitude and a friendly smile.  We were all inspired by his grit and determination.  It was good getting to see him with his prosthesis on and we're sure he'll soon be up and around!  Keep the faith, my brother!

Joe is shown here falsely impersonating the Employee of the Month.  Jim runs to get him a bar of soap while Bill sneaks around and turns on the sprinkler.  Janette thanks us later for getting Joe his weekly shower 2 days early!

Jim steals a wheelchair from a short patient.  Bill unlocks the brakes and Joe prepares to give him a little push.  Had it not been for Trish D, we may have been one rider short for the rest of the trip!

Always willing to autograph anything, Bill grabs the arm of one of the staff as Jim helps hold her down and marks it with "Thanks for a good time" stamp.  Joe gives Bill an injection in the neck in order to calm him down.

On a dare, Bill sneaks into the oxygen room for a quick smoke.  He was caught by security and removed in cuffs.

Anybody seen Joe?  Aha!  Joe is caught stealing an oxygen bottle from a little old lady with a bad cough.  Bill and Jim plunder the goods from her and are finally chased away by the nursing staff.

Bill amazes the crowd at his ability to perform dumb tricks while reciting poems.  The therapist can only look on in wonder....  Soon he is escorted out to the lobby and told to sit quietly and watch TV.

Joe gives the patients a 35 minute dissertation on the importance of nuclear arms of the water pistol variety.  The crowd is truly inspired by his comments as only two people fell asleep loud enough to snore.

Jim and Trish D force another poster on a hapless soul in rehab.  The trick is to offer them the poster BEFORE they see our pictures!  We can only hope Jim learns this before our next visit.

Jim distracts one man while the two Trishes prepare a blank poster.   "Here are the guys on their invisible bikes".

Margaret gets Bill in a head lock after catching him stealing an ear ring.  She does manage to hang on to her wrist watch (for now).

Amputees Across America would like to thank the entire staff of the Western Hills Regional Rehabilitation Hospital for hosting us this year.  Their hospitality and generosity was greatly appreciated by the whole AAA crew.  Special thanks to Dean Hatcher, CEO and Dawn Packard, Inpatient Marketing Liaison and all the staff at HealthSouth for their warmth and kindness in providing us with a venue to share our stories.  Also a big thanks to AmeriHost Inn for providing us with accommodations.
