Bill finally found someone that is nice to him.  At least he was nice to Bill until he sniffed Bill's prosthetic leg and lifted a leg of his own.  Poor pitiful Bill.  Friendless once again.

Jim tries to keep Joe from entering a closed exit to the hotel.  Joe as usual ignores Jim.  Jim as usual gets in Joe's face to remind him of the error of his ways.  Joe as usual ignores Jim.  Jim as usual will not be ignored.  Joe as usual ignores Jim.  This is not good.

At the assembly area, the intrepid trio is met with their escort from the Pleasant Gap Fire Company.  Trevor Reeder and Nate Corl do a professional job of escorting us the 3 miles to HealthSouth and are hardly able to contain their mirth watching Jim trying to get into Joe's Koolaid.

Here Jim and Bill move up on either side of Joe to give him a wet willy in each ear.

Joe will have none of this and starts pedaling faster

and faster until he is alone and out of the clutches of the two henchmen

Joe turns the corner into HealthSouth, drops a gear, and starts up the hill to the HealthSouth facility.

Bill and Jim know Joe well enough to swing wide to the outside to pass him on the hill.  Both know that if they pass within arms reach of Joe, a hand will reach out and latch onto some part of their bicycle for a tow.

Left to his own devices, Joe struggles up the hill

and reaches the top with his last breath.  Bill and Jim stand in the pedals and blow past our recumbent incumbent.

Greeted by staff and patients, the blue shirted riders do what they do best.  Joe shakes hands, Jim takes applications for his fan club, and Bill, as usual shakes down patients for their jewelry, wristwatches, and loose change.

Jim spends a lot of time talking with Josh.  Both were badly injured due to motorcycle accidents this past year and so Jim passes on some amputator wisdom

Here Bill talks with Richard.  Both Richard and Bill had similar accidents due to tractor rollovers and so seemed to hit it off well.  We can't help but notice the absence of a watch on Richard's wrist.  We wonder if the one on Bill''s wrist resembles the missing watch.

Mayor Goodman was kind enough to attend and make a proclamation that July 23rd is Amputees Across America Day.  Jim tries to avoid wearing the Penn State cap, but the Mayor was having none of it.  A well chastised Jim DeLong swallowed his Ohio State pride and very reluctantly wore the cap of blue.  Woody Hayes rolled over in his grave as the Penn State Nittany Lion symbol adorned the forehead of an Ohio State faithful.

As a result of numerous fund raising events, HealthSouth patients, staff, and supporters presented AAA with generous support.  Thanks to the efforts of Susan Hartman, CEO,  Rose Moffet, DMO, and the staff and patients of HealthSouth; their efforts to bring this event together with tremendous media support made our visit highly successful. Thanks especially for those special patients we met.  Linda, Josh, Richard, and Dorothy.
