The view from the window of the Casino Aztar who provided accommodations for the AAA riders.
We were met at the assembly area by members of the Traffic and Bicycle Divisions of the Evansville Police Department.
Bill sits on the motorcycle and makes motor sounds to an appreciative audience of Kody and Kyle. Joe is wondering what it was about Bill that made Joe think it would be a good idea to have him join us on the ride. So far, he has confiscated three wireless microphones from various tv news crews, and 18 watches from various patients. Joe is shown here hoping his bicycle grows into a real bike.
Bill decides that the motorized police will not give up their motors without a fight so tries on a police Trek. Though it seems to be a good fit, Bill finds that his short legs leave him hanging without any visible means of support.
Janette starts the diesel and everyone leaves prematurely. Joe races to catch up.
After a few minutes of killing time on the highway, we finally are able to continue on the ride into the HealthSouth facility.
Finally, another on time arrival. We were all amazed at the balloons that held up the HealthSouth sign as we entered the facility.
Joe and Kody are met by the Evansville farm team mascot, Evan Otter. Unfortunately, the team was enroute to an away game. Bill was informed that he would have been headlined at the game if only we had been here next weekend. So Bill misses the opportunity to show his stuff and wow the team with his infamous knuckleball. Bill contemplates Hari Kari but decides that he will continue his trek to the east in hopes of a pickup by the NY Yankees.
Sheriff Brad Ellsworth, Barb Butler, CEO, Kody Caton, Bill UK Vanover, Joe Sapere, and Mayor Jonathan Weinzapsel We appreciated the Mayor and the Sheriff taking the time to greet us and to say the many kind words about Kody and Joe. Fortunately, the sheriff arrived without his handcuffs so Bill was left, temporarily, in our custody. Joe contemplates Hari Kari.
Here Joe demonstrates the superior qualities of a recumbent bicycle to an interested visitor. After showing his pedal, pedal, pedal, crash technique, the visitor comtemplates Hari Kari.
Cletus makes a special balloon figure of a Kentucky bicycle rider sitting astride a bicycle facing the rear. Bill was delighted knowing that he can finally see where he has been.
Daisy, Joe, PodJo, Cletus, Kody, and Spotter with Bill. The River City Clowns have petitioned Sheriff Ellsworth for custody of Bill so that he can join their traveling circus. There's something "funny" going on here and Cletus threatens Hari Kari.
Here Bill convinces Kody that all of the girls will love his hat and that he should wear it to the next school dance. While Kody is distracted, Bill tries to steal the banana from Kody's monkey. The monkey contemplates Hari Kari.
Here Daisy and Spotter fall to Bill's charm and inflatable coiffure. After hearing Bill's story, for the eighth time, Spotter holds her ears. Bill starts to tell his story for the ninth time... Spotter contemplates Hari Kari.
Brenda Caton, Kody's older sister, is seen here with Mandi with one i, and Daisy. Bill finally claims his paternity. Mandi contemplates Hari Kari.
After being cleared by administration, Bill is finally allowed to talk to patients provided he is on his best behavior. Bill loses no time and settles in with Jo Anne, admiring her wrist watch. After learning of Bill's evil ways, Jo Anne contemplates Hari Kari.
Bill, Joe, and Kody address a group of 50 HealthSouth patients. Bill is showing signs of contrition. Joe is wondering why Jo Anne is no longer wearing her wrist watch. Kody is wondering how much longer the pain will last and wants to know what is this thing called Hari Kari?
Bill can stand it no longer. When Spotter pulls his finger, Bill magically transfers the watch from her wrist to his. Hocus Focus!!
Our heartfelt thanks to the HealthSouth Tri State Rehab Hospital, for the efforts of Barb Butler, CEO, in making us feel welcome, and for all that Tina Densley has done to make our visit so successful. Special thanks to the Casino Aztar for providing us with the wonderful riverside rooms. Also a big thank you to the River City Clowns whose volunteer efforts every day make a difference in the lives of patients. Our thanks to the professionalism of the Evansville Police Department in escorting us to the HealthSouth facility.
Finally, we say goodbye to Kody and Kyle who were with us from St Louis to Evansville. We will miss their company and zany antics and wish them well until the next time that they join us on next year's ride.
