We depart the Land of Enchantment and pass into the Colorado desert. Bill is pining for his home Kentucky state and was seen dyeing the grass blue. Mandi was successful in spotting a herd of elk which Bill successfully stalked, but when he squeezed the trigger to down the alpha male, discovered that his water pistol was empty.
Perfect weather. No clouds. 75 degrees. Downhill, smooth road, wide shoulders and little traffic. A perfect day. Bill actually has Andrew convinced that the telephone poles really do get shorter in the distance.
Andrew gets to ride our mountain bike and took off in pursuit of Mandi. They set a 20 mph pace. Joe and Bill struggle to catch up and at the next rest stop, Bill manages to let the air out of Andrew's rear tire. It was only a matter of time before Andrew comes to a complete stop. Bill looks on with an evil smile.
Here is a bit of formation riding to pass the time. Mandi and Andrew are shown riding snake guard for Joe and Bill.
Mountains in the distance. The scene would be perfect with the exception of Bill's pink shorts. The Pink Panter strikes again. Joe's bright orange shirt and Bill's short fashion statement, gets the attention of a local bull who snorts his approval, paws the ground, and makes indecent approaches to our two riders. Fortunately, a fence stands between us and udder disaster.
Here Bill and Andrew model their best sides while Bill regales the riders with a rendition of dancing cheek to cheek. Meanwhile, Joe is mistaken for a city worker in his orange garb and catches a tow with a local garbage truck, meeting the rest of the crew in Alamosa. Tomorrow it is on to Poncha Pass, Poncha City, and Canon City.
