After an early morning television spot interview the AAA riders visited two hospitals, Penrose and Memorial Hospitals.  We want to thank the staffs of both hospitals for graciously hosting our visit and allowing us to meet many of their patients and staff.

A visit to Penrose Hospital where we met patients and kibitzed with them.  Steve is planning on joining us on our 2006 ride.

Here we talked with a determined lady.  We wish you the very best Sherry.

A visit at Memorial Hospital allows us to meet numerous patients.  Andrew is seen charming Betty.

We have Howard surrounded.

We were impressed with a lady named Jean who is a brand new member of the amputee family.  Answering many questions we are determined to recruit her as a guest rider next year.

The gathering of Eagles.  Police escort, local riders, El Paso employees, HealthSouth staff, and local supporters meet in the assembly area to escort the AAA riders to the HealthSouth facility for the afternoon visitation..

Matt the El Paso Division Director for Colorado Springs is shown here, after hosting a luncheon for the AAA riders,  leading a large contingent of El Paso riders.  El Paso's support has been phenomenal at both the corporate and local levels.

Here, Luke Myers is shown preparing for his ride into HealthSouth.  Luke is a local amputee who joined AAA as a Jr. Ambassador last year and will once again be with us this year when we ride from Pennsylvania to Boston.

The ride in of amputees and supporters.

Esthan Myers, the brother of Luke, is shown here completing his ride followed by James Thayer.

It is all the more remarkable that Ethan is on his bike riding.  Last year he was in a wheel chair and we didn't think he would be able to ride this year.  Ethan proved us wrong.

Here comes Joe on his recumbent.  It is a little difficult to see the tow rope he is using to tow that Dodge truck up the hill.

Another HealthSouth fun ride is completed.

Bill says a few words to the gathered supporters.  He certainly was on his best behavior with the presence of so many El Paso employees.

Luke is shown doing his thing.  He has a great talent as a speaker and we hope he continues to wow the crowds.

BRIAN, far left, a member of the US Army and Karl, a Special Olympics member join us in support of our efforts.  We wish them both well.

Mark Cloer, the State Representative, shown here with Karl and the AAA riders, spoke about the efforts of HealthSouth and AAA to jointly give people with disabilities hope and inspiration.  We want to thank him for taking time from his busy schedule to meet with us and the HealthSouth staff and patients.

Here the boys do their thing personalizing posters for the patients, staff, and supporters of HealthSouth

Obviously the rigors of the visitation affect Luke, who appears to be taking his afternoon nap, and for James who loses track of what he is doing and ends up autographing balloons rather than posters.

The highlight of every visit is our visits with patients.  Barbara is quite a lady and she kept us hopping with her wonderful sense of humors.

Gladys is a gracious lady and we know that she will soon be back home.

Joe and Coach Lorenzo shared many memories of Van Cortland  park in the Bronx.  We hope your stay in rehab is a short one and we wish you and your lovely red headed wife the very best.

Many thanks to HealthSouth Rehab Hospital of Colorado Springs.  Ellen, CEO and Judy Harrigal, DMO were as gracious in their hospitality as they were in putting on a first class event.  Special thanks to Andres Mathews and the Clarion Hotel Downtown for providing rooms for our stay.  It seems that no matter where our routes go, they seem drawn to the Colorado Springs area.  Our thanks to the hospital staff who welcomed us and for the warm response by all of the patients we visited.  Special thanks to HealthSouth, Ohio Willow Wood, and El Paso Corporation, whose support made this ride possible.
