The intrepid threesome ride into the Wesley Rehab facility for the 12th hospital visitation of the AAA 2005 ride.
Joe tries to maintain control despite James's attempts to cut him off while avoiding Bill's water pistol.
Here the road warriors sign posters for the patients and staff of the hospital. Bill needs some help from Joe as he has not progressed to the point in the post graduate Kentucky school system where they learn to write in cursive. Bill is further hindered as his crayons melt in the hot Kansas sun.
After failing to pass the required AAA standard of literacy and the ability to both read and write, Bill tries his luck in talking with KAKE, local channel 10. Joe breathes a sigh of relief when he realizes that Bill's Kentucky twang is actually recognizable to those from other states and that the telecast has a 10 second delay. Wonders never cease on the AAA 2005 ride.
- Here Bill shows his multicultural sensitivity by speaking English with a Spanish accent. Unfortunately, Jose did not understand this dialect. Jose had a great sense of humor and showed great strength in his rehab.
One of the sweetest ladies we have met, Faye's smile and sparkling eyes captured our hearts.

Reva with her mom, Irma is being schmoozed by James. Keep the faith Reva and don't believe anything James has said about being an astronaut and a member of an illicit band of Space Fairies.
Here Bill lulls George to sleep with stories of the yellow triciycle that he owned in the fifth grade. George is seen here hanging on Bill's every word.
While George continues to snore, Bill moves on to Reva and holds here interest and fascination while he tells her about his yellow tricycle in the fifth grade. Reva is skeptical however as she has never met anyone from Kentucky who has made it past the fourth grade.
James is joined by his two daughters, Jessica and Jennifer, and his mom and dad. Thanks to his parents we enjoyed a wonderful dinner following our visitation. Our thanks to the two girls for showing Mandi with one i around Wichita.
Our visitation coincided with a visit from Miss Kansas, Adrienne Rosell. We appreciate her support and we hope to see her again after she wins the Miss America pageant.
Here the boys take a break outside the Wesley facility. Once again Joe talks about the heroes in his life. Heroes like, Lance Armstrong, the first bicyclist on the moon, and Artie Franklin aka Johnson who was such a good role model as an avid bicyclist on the Laugh In television show. Bill rolls his eyes in patient suffrage..
Our thanks to Pam Stanberry, CEO and Rob Rose, DMO for their gracious hospitality and generous support in making our visit a comfortable one. The staff and patients at Wesley, were supportive, enthusiastic, and hospitable. We particularly appreciate KAKE for their coverage when all of the other stations were doing their media frenzy for the serial killer trial beginning on Monday. We had a fantastic time talking with all of the patients and meeting the staff. |
