Our truck is fixed, our stomachs are full of A&W root beer floats, and it is time to hit the road. The down time also gave us some time to do some minor maintenance on the bikes.  This was needed in order to prepare them for the long grueling downhills Joe has been promising.  Depart Boulder City and Lake Meade heading south to Wikieup, Arizona.

Ever try to ride up a hill in reverse?  This is not an easy chore, but we tackled it with zest and was able to avoid any traffic coming DOWN the hill.  Ok...what really happened is that we came to two hills that we couldn't resist riding.  Smooth road, downhill all the way for 20 miles.  So we dump the bikes and ride.  There was a severe crosswind that nearly blew Joe into Bill and off the side of the mountain, but Joe was able to maintain control and keep his bike upright the WHOLE DAY.  Go Joe!

Here is  Bill's favorite biking shorts.  All the boys in the cowboy bars like them a whole lot.  Joe is certainly envious of all the attention and wonders where he can get a pair just like them.  We wonder what a 40 mile an hour pink elephant would look like.

The scenery is fantastic.   Our riders take a quick glance to the left to marvel at the wondrous creation and POOF.... they are all gone!  State Patrol cars, two ambulances and 4 helicopters swarm the area and if it wasn't for Bill's pink shorts, they may have never been found!  There's safety in bright colors.

Finally after riding all day, we arrive at our lodgings in Wikieup, "The Wikieup Trading Post".   After a long day on the road in the hot sun, it looks like the Hilton to our weary riders.

Lo and behold, at our hotel room, we are confronted with a sight to behold!  Is that an AAA banner off in the distance?  Who could it be????   Is it a throng of our many fans?  AAA groupies?  Ehhhh, would you believe a couple of boyscouts???  Let's get a closer look.....

Ohhhhh Noooooo!!!  We can't believe it!  Joe's nemesis from the 2002 ride is back.  (For further reference, please read the 2002 journal).

ANIMAL!!!!!

And he doesn't look happy to see Joe!

He is joined by a migrant family from Oklahoma.

Tis only John Keating and two of his  kids, Asa and Gabriel.  Oh, and of course the ugliest little puppet in existence.

Here John is trying to calm Animal down and keep him from trying to attack Joe!

Here Bill and John exchange war stories at the expense of Joe.  Joe sulks and threatens to kidnap Animal and hold him for ransom.

John was Joe's co-rider on the ride in 2002 and will be with us to protect Animal from Joe's clutches.

Welcome back John!

Tomorrow it's on to Phoenix!!
