Not to worry, Joe slides to the outside, running down two pedestrians and a dog but manages to avoid hitting Cliff.
Dothan Mayor Pat Thomas gives heartwarming words of welcome and a Proclamation voiding all of our parking tickets issued during our visit last year. HealthSouth is still trying to recover the silverware from last year's lunch and offers us only plastic spoons, knives, and forks. Mayor Thomas was followed by Houston County Commissioner Curtis Harvey who also issued a Proclamation by the county commission. Following these dignitaries, Cliff and Abel touched everyone's hearts with their stories and messages of hope and faith. These gentlemen are steeped in the human spirit.
After Suzie Henard had spoken, an unusual and touching episode happened when her patient, Mark, decided to speak to the group. This was a complete surprise to Susie who had struggled so long for Mark to be able to speak just a few words to her in private and was floored when he came up and took the microphone to speak his heart. Mark touched each of us in a special way that was extraordinary to witness.
You can see the pride in the glowing face of Suzie as she poses with Mark for the camera. Not one... not one single rider... had a dry eye. We all are so proud of you Mark and you made a great day a very special one for all of us and particularly those care providers like Julie, who so obviously bathe you and embrace you with their healing love.
Abel is going to have to stop gathering up all of these female admirers. Barbara, a bilateral amputee makes her mark on Abel, as she does everyone that she meets. She is one determined lady and we fully expect her to be walking very soon.
Joe orders the height enhancing kit from the Acme Gift Co. that is used by Wiley Coyote. In principle, it should float above Joe's head and add enough inches for Joe to, once and for all, dispel any notion that Abel is the same height as Joe. It became readily apparent, however, when the hat floated off his head, that Joe has an overabundance of helium. Joe proves that he is not only NOT taller than Abel, but also, NOT VERY SMART. Like the bumper sticker says, "You can't cure stupid."
Pearl is a rock. Steady and a beacon for others. It was an honor to meet you Pearl and know that only good things will come your way ten fold.
Abel tries to up the wattage on the arm machine under the mistaken impression that this machine will add inches to his height. Joe continues to inflate helium balloons and just snickers knowing you can't cure stupid.
Dr Bones talks with Martha about the latest in orthopedic practices. Our peer sessions in a very busy PT gym were challenging. The patient load was as great and even greater than any other PT gym we have been in to date. Our thanks to Margaret Futch, CEO, and Will Craig, DMO, who made this visitation the success that it was.
