Escorted by four motorcycle units of the Phenix City Police Department, Joe and Cliff are escorted into the Regional Rehabilitation Hospital, a three year old facility of 38 beds, serving the Phenix City, Ala and Columbus, Ga greater metropolitan area.

We are greeted by patients, staff, and distinguished visitors with Gladys, Rosa, and Pat front and center.  Three mayors, Mr Hardin, Mr Wetherington, and Ms Dellinger,  from two states and Mr Vance, an Alabama state representative are seen conferring about whether or not Abel or Joe should be cited in violation of the ordnance requiring bicyclists to be at least three feet tall.  An exception, based on a plea of insanity, is granted provided that the two little fellas be released under their own recognizance into the custody of Cliff.

Greg from the Columbus mountain bike club, Dr. V. from the facility, Mack from Alabama Artificial Limb Co., Mandy a PT of some renown, and Joel and Glenn from the AALC join the torrid threesome on the ride in.  Abel, believing that black bicycle shorts  inhibit growth spurts, is shown wearing the latest in GRAY.

Cliff and Joe work the crowd upon their arrival at the facility, while Abel changes back into his black bicycle shorts.

Joe entertains everyone with his rendition of Yankee Doodle while a HealthSouth staff member yodels an accompaniment.

Joe tries to slip the rings off the fingers of a patient under the watchful eyes of a HealthSouth security person.  Unfortunately, HealthSouth is forewarned about Joe's unusual methods of fund raising so all Joe manages to grab is the patient's medical identification bracelet.

Clliff does what he does best.  He talks, educates, and motivates.  Joe and Abel sit in rapt attention and admiration.  Despite promises of good behavior, Abel picks on Joe and is soon sent to time-out.

Jewel falls for the old "Mouse in Your Pocket" ploy of Joe while he negotiates the sale of a poster to Joan.

Gladys is congratulated by Cliff on surviving another grueling session of therapy at the hands of Mandy, a torturess of great distinction.  We wish you well Gladys and all of the other patients at HealthSouth who so inspire us to keep on doing what we need to do.  It is your courage that strengthens our resolve to make it to Vero Beach and beyond.

To Jill Jordan, CEO,  Bobby Edmundson and Ivy Nash, our special hosts, and to the staff of HealthSouth, a special thanks for a wonderful visitation.  You did everything right and we could not have asked for better treatment and hospitality. You serve your community well and we are proud to have been a small part of what you do every day.
