We unload the bikes in a morning of mist and fog.  Even the trains are inching along in the murk. There is an eerie quiet that descends upon US Highway 50

But Cliff's smiling face indicates all is right with the world since he is going to have to ride with the bubble kid.  Cliff couldn't be happier as he puts on his root canal face of obvious pain.

Joe starts off by singing a few stanzas of Don Giovanni.  Cliff falls back to avoid the screech.  Joe goes on to a Verdi serenade as Cliff tries to turn into traffic, just so the music stops.

Joe and Cliff finish their ride with a resounding crash of the 1812 Overture cannons resulting from Cliff running Joe down and beating him repeatedly about the head and shoulders with a stick.

Now it is Abel's turn to ride with Annie.

Annie and Abel pedal along at a nice clip as a big rig passes them on the right. Annie is confronted with a large hill that she must ride up.  She dedicates the hill to her new granddaughter, Audrey Hope, grits her teeth, and steams up the hill with power.

Racing to the finish, Abel cuts Annie off, forcing her off the road.

But Annie is pleased as she remembers how she loosened all of the screws in Abel's leg.

Three local inhabitants of Kansas gaze with surprised curiosity at two riders hurtling down a hill...

the first rider leaving a trail of loosened bolts as pieces of his leg fall to the ground....

the second rider screaming at the top of her lungs... "there isn't a man in the world who can get the best of Granny Clark."

Finally, a much chagrined Abel is joined by Papa Cliff for the final leg of the journey into Dodge City.

Our heartiest congratulations to Audrey Hope, born June 19th, and sharing this auspicious date of birth with Moe of the Three Stooges.  Let us hope this is not a foretelling of the future.
