Travel to Barstow

An early get up puts us in Victorville, ready to ride to Barstow.  Expecting a warm day, Abel is seen returning from the convenience store with a sackful of Coors, his favorite hydrating liquid.

Beas, homesick for Georgia, adds his Planters peanuts to the Albuquerque six packs.  Pretty soon, everyone is happy and hydrated.  Cliff is seen preparing intravenous transfusions should the supply of canned liquid refreshments run out.  Prepared for all emergencies, but lacking an Automatic Electrical Defibrillator, Cliff unpacks his set of jumper cables from the car and cleans them to surgical standards, ready for immediate use, should Abel become comatose after drinking a record number of hydrating liquids.

Beas and Abel redeem themselves by selling their now empty cans to an on-site recycling engineer trying to earn enough money to fix his truck.

Joe tricks Beas and Abel into riding their bikes by saying that he saw a free beer sign just down the road and over the next hill.  Fortunately the road weaves coincidentally with the path of travel taken by Beas and Abel.

Finally, Cliff joins the group fully refreshed, having exhausted the contents of an IV drip of some unknown substance.

Abel starts complaining and tells Cliff that he is going to tell Mom that Cliff is not staying on his side of the road.  Cliff tells Abel that he had better behave or else there will be no more happy pills.  Beas, lost in thought, takes a middle of the road position and tries to ignore both Cliff and Abel.

Beas and Abel are last seen heading into a western establishment of liquid refreshments, leaving Cliff to enjoy the tranquility of the open road.  Tomorrow we ride to Amboy with the thought that it just can't get any worse than this.
