Visitation at HealthSouth Rehab Hospital of Reading
After
a tough climb for Luke, Sean and Joe join him for the ride into the
facility.
![]() Lukas is just returning from paying homage to the Amputees Across America tree that was planted in 2004. Scott Keene, Director of Marketing Operations, comments on the unusually fast growth of the tree, no doubt due to its annual anointment by each of the riders.
![]() Beth, a member of AAA from days past, joins the two kids while Sean looks on. We hope that Beth and her motorcycle brethren join us for a ride in the near future. Brad, a joyful member of humanity captured our hearts. His genuine love of life and indomitable human spirit have so inspired us and everyone that meets him.
![]() Steve and Brad are trying to figure out what dialect of Swahili Luke is speaking. Luke evidently has five points to make in his talk as he displays the five fingers on which he wrote his speech. |
![]() Luke loses track of his place on his talk and describes instead his experiences with a Candy Stripper rather than Candy Striper.
![]() Joshua and Cash's mom puts their fingers in the ears of their children while Luke goes on and on and on and on about his love life. |
![]() Joe meets Arlene, a lady that lights up the room and all within it. When Joe finds out her net worth, he tries to pawn himself off as her long lost cousin from Arkansas. Arlene sees through his ploy and in true Ruth Buzzy fashion drives Joe away with her hand bag. |
![]() Rick takes Luke and Sean under his wing and tries to get the Candy Stripper's phone number from Luke. Luke convinces him that his purple cast would clash with the ostrich plume worn by Candy. Sean just laughs knowing he will have a better chance to win Candy's affection with his multi colored socket covers. Rick just smiles as he remembers what it was like to be 12 and 19 again. Oh the things that we would do differently. Tell us Rick. |
![]() Our thanks to Rick Kruczek, CEO, Scott Keene, DMO and our helper Bonnie Reynolds for all they did to make our visit a great one. Oh! And be sure to check the lost and found at least twice a day to return the cell phone to Bonnie. Special thanks to Kim and her staff of PTs and OTs who patiently suffered through our antics. It is our fervent hope that the smiles we generated, in some small way, helped give healing to their patients and to support their efforts to provide loving healing and care. Our thanks go, especially, to the PTs, OTs, and Speech Therapists for what they do every day. And lastly, thanks to the wonderful patients who smiled and show such appreciation that we took the time to talk with them. HealthSouth, you are a truly remarkable and unique institution, whose message we carry on the wings of a bicycle. Thank you for the trust in our efforts to bring that message to your patients and the local communities. |
