![]() Doc and AJ are beginning to think that Little Joe is a pathological liar. He described today’s ride-in was “almost all downhill with the facility’s drive being a slight hill.” While the first 2 miles WAS downhill, a colossal, enormous, ugly mountain of a driveway stood before us. After losing all momentum in turning into the drive, AJ and Joe laboriously gear down and pedal with all their might with Doc and Travis following closely behind. |
|
|
![]() AJ, straining and wheezing,… |
|
|
…and
Joe, frolicking and chuckling, make it to the top of the drive totally
intact |
|
|
![]() Doc curses Travis who has such an easy time of the hill that he does it while laying down for a nap. Later Doc was found loosening Travis’ brake lines and letting all the air out of his tires.
|
In
a show of solidarity, together we walked our cycles to the pavilion after WE
ALL MADE IT TO THE TOP OF THE HILL…pedalling! |
Doc
is delirious with glee when Travis rides away and his recumbent falls to
pieces while whizzing down the hill without brakes.
|
AJ
impresses Doc with her rap version of “Found A Peanut.”
|
William
impressed us all with his resolve to get back to living and we hope that
he’ll keep us informed of his achievements. We all have the feeling that
we’ll be seeing him in action (possibly on a bike) VERY soon! |
Today
we had the distinct pleasure of spending part of our day with Rich who has
survived brain tumors, a stroke, and four brain surgeries. This guy is a
phenomenal example of what it means to be a model patient and a true
believer in oneself. We only hope that we can take a fraction of Rich’s
courage and perseverance and use them when we’re less-than-marvelous or when
we run out of steam.

| Thanks to the efforts of Susan Hartman, CEO, her marketing team of Tracy Ewing, DMO , Pat Mieg, and the entire staff of Nittany Valley Rehabilitation Hospital who organized our visit. It was a success in every way and we look forward to a return visit in 2012. Special thanks for the Hilton Garden Inn for their generous support and to Travis Prebble from Bikkeable who suffered the hill with us and Moriah Grace from A Step Beyond Massage Therapy for contributing her time and hands in giving us a well needed massage. |
