Sean Brame, a big-time celebrity, took time out of his extremely busy schedule of testifying in front of congress and hot-tubbing it with the Obama girls to slum it with the riders today. It was awesome to get to catch up with what all this guy has been doing (and his mom is pretty darn cool, too) and we know he will continue to be an outstanding young man!

Beth ran interference for us today and made sure that we arrived safely. It’s always nice to know that someone was around just in case Doc went into coffee withdrawals, Joe shrunk another half-inch, or AJ needed an emergency visit to the nearest nail salon.

Greg Toot, HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Mechanicsburg CEO, welcomes the riders into the facility and reminds them that he’s installed 46 super-top-secret video cameras in various undisclosed locations to monitor the riders activity and to make sure that Joe wouldn’t horrify the patients with his terrible Abel impressions.

Doc and Beth watch the video that was put together just for our arrival. HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Mechanicsburg went above and beyond to welcome us and show their appreciation for our visit! We only hope that we lived up to their high expectations and that they enjoyed the visit as much as we did!

AJ makes her last speech as Superwoman. As the story goes, the cape has been handed down from one Superwoman to another. It came to AJ via Superwoman April Hammet back in Macon. April told AJ that she’d know when the time was right to pass the cape to the next Superwoman and today was definitely the day.

AJ makes a short speech and then asks Jan, a Superwoman battling cancer with all she’s got, to come forward and accept the cape. Jan was surprised but nobody else was. The strength and determination she shows just by living every day is awe-inspiring. She is, truly, a SUPER WOMAN!

Mary (right) and Martha (left) got all gussied up today in anticipation of Joe and Doc’s arrival. They were very disappointed, however, when they had to suffer through listening to AJ talk southern at them.

Beth, ever the little panhandler, brings her can around to all the patients today trying to drum up some money so she can get the road sludge off her Harley’s whitewall tires when she gets home.

Doc’s uses his body weight to offer a little resistance as Carolyn builds her abs of steel by doing countless sit-ups.

Sarah lit up the room with her spunk and feisty demeanor! With some GREAT therapists beside her and her other half, she makes more and more progress every day. We are optimistic that she’ll get back to life as usual very soon and think she’s going to inspire numerous others!

Our thanks to Greg Toot, CEO and Kenyon College Booster Club member, and  his merry band of Marketing specialists, Catherine Middleton and Dennis Mahafee, his wonderful staff, and inspired and dedicated patients who are working so hard with the help of HealthSouth to return to living active lives.  We thank one and all for the fun that we shared and for allowing us to participate in the rehabilitation process, if only for one day.  It was our pleasure to spend the time with you, watching the love of healing displayed by a truly dedicated bunch of care givers.
