Visitation at the HealthSouth Rehabilitation Institute of Tucson

An awesome group of riders from HealthSouth Rehab Institute of Tucson met us today for an extra-long jaunt to the facility. Incidentally, one rider that is even shorter than Joe showed up. See if you can pick her out from the group (*hint---she’s just north of “amp” on the banner and almost as tall as Dorf).

AJ and Doc grow tired during their extra-long jaunt to the facility and try to flag down a cab. Unfortunately, the cab driver doesn’t recognize a leg up in the air as a “hailing a cab” gesture. Someone needs to read the Amputees for Dummies Handbook.

Marie Marchal, DMO, suspiciously eyes Abel as he’s “working the crowd.” Somehow, she thinks there’s more to it than just talking to people. That being said, she requisitioned any and all pictures of Abel to be used as evidence if needed.

Poor Doc. He’s suffering from the debilitating Notailatall Disease as evidenced by his saggy, child-sized cycling shorts. Doc, the pads are supposed to be worn closely to your derrière, not your thighs.

Doc refuses to give his speech until someone tells him where the nearest Dunkin’ Donuts is located. He threatens to hold the GUEST hostage until he gets some real coffee.

Marie, realizing that the only reason AAA exists is because of AJ, officially coronates her as the Grand-Poo-Pah-Fabulous-Awesome-Impeccable-Princess of Amputees Across America.

Mrs. Trujillo, a very recent below-knee amputee, is working hard to continue life as usual with the strong support of her family. She’s a true inspiration to us and we wish her the best!

Overheard--*Sigh* My, oh my! Wherever is my knight in shining armor? A newly-coronated princess hates to be kept waiting.  Oh, wait! Is that George Clooney riding by? Darn, it’s wasn’t. It seems evident to the most casual observer that George has his priorities misplaced when he could be chasing royalty.

Penye, sporting the trendiest fashion in prosthetics, shows Abel her best runway walk as he looks on. Abel is just jealous that her leg is shinier than his.

Wanting to get away from the newly-coronated princess, AJ’s feet try to hop a ride on the bike. Regrettably, they forgot that without AJ, they aren’t tall enough to reach the pedals. Foiled again!

Thanks to Marie Marchal, DMO and the staff of the RIT who did a wonderful job hosting us and making us feel welcome.  Special thanks to the  Viscount Suites who provided our wonderful accommodations for our visit.
