Travel to Yuma

Joe is seen here riding Dick's bike which, unlike Big Red, is fully equipped with gears and brakes. After discovering the chain lube was dry he applied a generous dab of dark automotive grease on the chain, seat, frame, and axle of Dick's bike. This preventative maintenance will protect the bike from the salt water soaking experienced yesterday at beachside. I am sure that Dick will love the modifications we have made to his bike as we ready it for his return.

Today we continued our ride East to Yuma. Despite 100 degree temperatures we continued to climb one of Abel's many optical illusions. With the confidence of being in scientific denial, Abel shows the proof of a downhill slope on his 25 cent inclinometer.

Deciding to call it a day, Joe slows to a stop forcing John into taking avoidance action. In so doing, John, with great skill and aplomb, plows a 20 foot furrow with his face in the sand. Joe is amazed as he watches John, with consumate skill, make a perfect three-point landing . Abel doesn't see him with his face buried in terra firma, and mistakes him for an ostrich doing what... well ostriches do... planting their heads in the sand. Shown here are the remains of John, having left long strips of skin and tissue along the roadside.

Responding to a motion detector signal, a local Border Patrol Officer investigates the disturbance and finds a slightly dazed John slightly battered but with spirit, mind, and body intact,
