Richard Devene
is a 39 year
old right BK amputee of Montgomery, Alabama, who lost his leg in an industrial accident in 1999. Born in 1972 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Richard spent most of his adult life in Prattville and Dothan, Alabama working in the construction industry for eleven years. He has worked as a prothetics technician for the past year and has found his calling while talking to patients. After meeting Joe Sapere, the ride's founder and fellow amputee, during the fabrication of his new prosthetic, he was invited to participate in the 2010 ride. He jumped at the chance and is eager to talk to patients, in all walks of life, who are going through rehab and recovering from the effects of trauma and sudden illness, such as stroke and amputation. Richard loves to run and spend time with his four sons, aged 5 to 16 years of age. "I am excited about this once in a lifetime opportunity to touch the hearts of so many and give back a little something of what has been given to me through the years since my accident." |
